Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern your access to and use of the JoyRibbons platform, including our website at joyribbons.com, our mobile applications, and all related services. By registering an account or using any part of our Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

JoyRibbons is a wedding registry and gifting platform that enables couples to create wedding gift registries, invite guests to purchase gifts, manage gift selections, and opt to receive either physical gifts or cash equivalents through our payout system.

• You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
• You are responsible for providing accurate, current and complete registration information and keeping your credentials secure.
• You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@joyribbons.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that provide false information or violate these Terms.

• Registries are for personal, non-commercial use in connection with a genuine upcoming wedding or celebration.
• You may not create fictitious, duplicate, or fraudulent registries designed to collect gifts without a genuine underlying event.
• JoyRibbons reserves the right to investigate and remove registries we reasonably believe are fraudulent or abusive.
• We do not guarantee any specific product will remain available throughout your registry period. Availability is subject to supplier inventory.
• You are responsible for ensuring your delivery address and bank account details are accurate and up to date.

• Gift purchases are final once payment is confirmed. Refunds are only available where required by applicable consumer protection law.
• Guests confirm they are making a voluntary gift and retain no ownership or claim over the purchased item or its cash equivalent.
• JoyRibbons is not responsible for errors in gift selection made by guests.
• Payments are processed by our third-party providers. By making a purchase, you also agree to their terms.

• Registry holders may receive gifts as physical items (no fee) or as a cash equivalent subject to a 10% conversion fee on the gift value.
• Withdrawals are processed manually. To request a cash payout or finalise gift shipping, you must email us at hello@joyribbons.com with your account details and the amount you wish to withdraw. We do not offer automated withdrawals at this time.
• Payout requests are reviewed and processed within 3–5 business days of receipt of your email, subject to successful completion of any required verification.
• JoyRibbons may delay, hold, or withhold payouts where there is reasonable suspicion of fraud, an active chargeback, a payment dispute, or an ongoing investigation — without prior notice and for as long as reasonably necessary.
• Payouts go to the bank account details you provide in your withdrawal request. JoyRibbons is not liable for funds sent to incorrect details you provided.
• Once a physical gift has been dispatched, it cannot be converted to a cash payout.
• Payout fees and timelines may change. We will give 14 days' notice of any material changes on the Platform.

• For cash gifts or contributions of USD 2,000 or above (or equivalent in any currency), JoyRibbons reserves the right to require additional verification before releasing funds. This is a standard financial compliance measure.
• Verification may include, but is not limited to: a signed Gift Source of Funds Declaration, valid government-issued photo ID from both registry partners, confirmation from the sender of the gift, and any other documentation reasonably requested by JoyRibbons.
• You agree to cooperate fully with any such verification request and to provide the required documentation within 5 business days of being notified. Failure to do so may result in your payout being withheld indefinitely until the verification is complete.
• JoyRibbons may, at its sole discretion, apply enhanced verification to transactions below USD 2,000 where there are reasonable grounds for concern.
• Submitting false, misleading, or fraudulent documentation as part of any verification process constitutes a material breach of these Terms and may result in immediate account termination, permanent forfeiture of funds, and referral to relevant law enforcement authorities.

• JoyRibbons acts as an intermediary platform and is not the ultimate beneficiary of gifts sent through the Platform. Where a guest initiates a chargeback, payment reversal, or dispute through their bank, card issuer, or payment processor (including Stripe), JoyRibbons may be required to return the disputed funds to the payment processor — often immediately and without prior notice.
• You, as the registry holder, accept full financial liability for any chargeback, reversal, or dispute relating to gifts received on your registry. This liability applies whether or not you have already received a payout for the relevant funds.
• Where a chargeback results in JoyRibbons returning funds to a payment processor, you agree to reimburse JoyRibbons the full disputed amount — including any chargeback fees imposed by the payment processor or acquiring bank — within 14 calendar days of written notification from JoyRibbons.
• JoyRibbons bears no financial responsibility for fraudulent, disputed, or reversed transactions. The registry holder assumes full risk and liability for the legitimacy of all funds received through their registry.
• You agree to cooperate fully with any investigation, dispute resolution process, or documentation request initiated by JoyRibbons, our payment processors, or any relevant authority in connection with a disputed transaction.
• Failure to reimburse JoyRibbons within the specified timeframe entitles JoyRibbons to pursue recovery through all available legal means, including civil debt recovery proceedings, engagement of a debt collection agency, withholding of any future payouts from your account, and reporting the matter to relevant financial or consumer protection authorities.
• JoyRibbons reserves the right to immediately suspend your registry, withhold any pending payouts, and terminate your account pending resolution of any outstanding chargeback liability.

• Where JoyRibbons's payment processor (including Stripe or Paystack) initiates, or notifies JoyRibbons of, a review, investigation, or inquiry into any transaction or series of transactions associated with your account, JoyRibbons is required to cooperate fully with that investigation. This may occur without prior notice to you and may be triggered by activity JoyRibbons itself did not flag.
• During any such investigation, JoyRibbons will immediately freeze all pending and future payouts on your account until the payment processor confirms the outcome of its review. This freeze may last up to 90 days or longer, depending on the payment processor's timeline. JoyRibbons has no discretion to override or accelerate this process.
• JoyRibbons is not liable for any loss, inconvenience, or damage arising from a payout freeze imposed as a result of a payment processor investigation, regardless of whether the investigation ultimately finds any wrongdoing.
• Where a payment processor requires JoyRibbons to return, reverse, or hold funds as part of an investigation, JoyRibbons will comply immediately and without prior notice to you. You agree not to hold JoyRibbons liable for any such action taken at the direction of a payment processor or regulatory authority.
• You agree to cooperate fully with any investigation initiated by JoyRibbons, our payment processors, or any relevant financial or regulatory authority, including providing any documentation, identification, or information reasonably requested within the timeframe specified.

• Where a registry receives multiple large transactions — whether from the same sender or from different senders — within a short period of time, JoyRibbons reserves the right to treat the cumulative total as a single high-value transaction for the purposes of verification, risk assessment, and payout decisions.
• JoyRibbons may require separate verification for each large transaction received on a registry, regardless of whether earlier transactions have already been verified. Verification of one transaction does not constitute approval of subsequent transactions.
• Where the cumulative value of unverified or under-verified transactions on a registry exceeds USD 5,000 (or equivalent), JoyRibbons reserves the right to freeze all payouts on that registry until a full compliance review has been completed to JoyRibbons's satisfaction.
• JoyRibbons reserves the right to refund or reverse any transaction on a registry at its sole discretion where it has reasonable grounds to believe that the transaction, or the pattern of transactions on that registry, poses a compliance, fraud, or reputational risk to the Platform — regardless of whether individual transactions have passed initial verification.

• JoyRibbons reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or permanently terminate any account at its sole discretion where it has reasonable grounds to suspect fraudulent activity, misuse of the Platform, a breach of these Terms, or any activity that poses a risk to JoyRibbons, its users, or its payment processors.
• Account suspension or termination may be enacted immediately and without prior notice. JoyRibbons will notify you of a suspension or termination by email as soon as reasonably practicable, but is not obligated to provide advance notice where doing so could compromise an ongoing investigation.
• Where an account is suspended or terminated due to suspected fraudulent activity or a breach of these Terms, JoyRibbons reserves the right to withhold all funds held in that account indefinitely pending the outcome of any investigation by JoyRibbons, our payment processors, or relevant authorities.
• Where funds held in a suspended account are subsequently found to be connected to fraudulent activity, unauthorised payments, or transactions subject to chargeback, those funds may be permanently forfeited and returned to the relevant payment processor, sender, or authority as required by law or at JoyRibbons's discretion.
• Where a refund or reversal is issued to a gift sender as a result of a compliance review, account termination, or payment processor instruction, the registry holder acknowledges that they will not receive a payout for the relevant funds and shall have no claim against JoyRibbons in respect of those funds.
• JoyRibbons's decision to suspend, terminate, or withhold funds is final pending the outcome of any investigation. Appeals may be submitted to hello@joyribbons.com but JoyRibbons is under no obligation to reverse a suspension or release funds during an active investigation.

You agree not to use JoyRibbons to:

• Engage in fraudulent activity, money laundering, or any illegal purpose
• Create fake registries, fictitious events, or duplicate accounts to collect funds without a genuine underlying wedding or celebration
• Arrange, solicit, or coordinate gift contributions as part of any scheme, laundering arrangement, or agreement to return funds in any form
• Submit false or misleading information during registration, verification, or any compliance process
• Impersonate another person or use someone else's identity to register, receive payouts, or pass any verification check
• Initiate or encourage fraudulent chargebacks or payment disputes on genuine transactions
• Use automated tools or bots to scrape, manipulate or excessively query the Platform
• Attempt to circumvent any security, verification, or fraud-prevention feature of the Platform
• Resell, commercially exploit, or redistribute any aspect of the Platform without our written consent

Violation of any of the above may result in immediate account suspension, permanent forfeiture of funds held on the Platform, and referral to relevant law enforcement or financial regulatory authorities. JoyRibbons reserves the right to report suspected financial crimes to appropriate authorities without prior notice to the account holder.

All content on the Platform — including text, graphics, logos, images, design elements and software — is the property of JoyRibbons or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, modify or distribute any content without prior written permission.

By uploading content to your registry, you grant JoyRibbons a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use that content to operate and promote the Platform.

The Platform may integrate with third-party services such as payment providers, courier partners, and logistics companies. JoyRibbons is not responsible for third-party content or practices. Your use of such services is governed by their own terms and policies.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, JoyRibbons is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages — including loss of data, loss of revenue, or disruption to your event plans. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the total fees paid by you to JoyRibbons in the 12 months preceding the claim.

If you have a dispute, contact us first at hello@joyribbons.com. We will try to resolve it within 14 business days. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Unresolved disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you via email or a notice on the Platform at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

JoyRibbons displays third-party advertisements on parts of the Platform. These ads are served by Google AdSense and/or Ezoic and are subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. By using the Platform, you acknowledge that:

• Third-party advertising partners may use cookies and tracking technologies to serve interest-based advertisements.
• JoyRibbons is not responsible for the content of third-party advertisements, the products or services they promote, or any claim arising from your interaction with an advertisement.
• We do not share your personal account data (name, email, financial details) with advertisers. Ad targeting is based on anonymous browsing data managed by our advertising partners.
• You may opt out of personalised ads at any time via Google Ads Settings or your browser's cookie controls.
