We stayed in the upgrade stables (Farm Cottages) in the family room. I have never seen a place with so much atmosphere! The decorations really enhanced the historical atmosphere of Sir Rider Haggard's house. You should not miss it when visiting Newcastle, KZN.
On arrival I was greeted by super friendly staff, who explained everything I needed to know being my first time. Like breakfast /dinner times, the honesty bar where my room was situated. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms big and super comfortable.
After a long day in the car on a business trip, arriving at Haggards on Hilldrop was instant revival. The original home of author Rider Haggard (King Solomons mines) has been beautifully restored and is an oasis of tranquility and beauty. …
The garden is stunning, I just wish I had known that we couldn't park on it for a photo because that would have saved me R650.
The gentleman who parked on their grass was shouted at by the owner which was alarming.
